Paris-Brest-Paris, and a short tour of the Alps
The randonneuring page has two new reports about PBP. One is mine, in English, and describes my failed attempt, and the other is by Ranieri Casalini, in Italian, and beautifully recounts his successful ride.
After all the problems at PBP I had the opportunity to ride for a few days in the Alps. I had a much better time, and you can read a report here.

A new bike shed
Eight bikes in one house, and no bike storage. What to do? Our very skilled downstairs neighbor Behrad and I built a 13-foot shed in the back yard. It was a great weekend project.

Two more ride reports
With some delay, I have written ride reports of the Santa Rosa 600K and Big Basin 200K brevets. As usual, they are linked from the randonneuring page.

Early-season 2007 brevets
The brevet season in California starts early. Despite skipping some rides I had signed up for to take care of our new baby, I already have four brevets under my belt. The randonneuring page has some notes and a ride report, and more coming soon.

Notes on the 2006 randonneuring season
I had no time to write any randonneuring ride reports in 2006, but recently I decided to jot down some notes and results before the memories became hopelessly jumbled. You can find them here.

North American Handmade Bicycle Show
Last weekend (March 2-4) the San Jose Convention Center hosted the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. It was a feast for the eyes. Read my report here.

Snow on Mount Diablo
Last Friday I cycled up Mount Diablo. A storm had just coated the summit in white. Vapor rose from the pavement, and ice-coated pines shimmered under the brilliant blue sky. It was magnificent. I took some photos.

Tour of California
The Amgen Tour of California, this year in its second edition, came through Davis today. It was exciting to have a top-flight stage race pass two blocks from our house! There was defending world champion Paolo Bettini, Giro d'Italia winner Ivan Basso, defending world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara, former Armstrong right-hand-man George Hincapie, Australian sprinter Stuart O'Grady, and many other international stars. The peloton flew by in a flash, but I took some photos, and our neighbor Dave took some more.
